Hi fellow westie people.
We’re Jane and Neil, full-time travellers from Tasmania, travelling the mainland from 8 April with our three Westies — Darby, Rhia and Frankie — and an open road ahead of us.
We proudly call ourselves “house sitters for Westies” because this breed (and similar terriers) is quite literally our life. If you know Westies, you know they’re clever, opinionated, independent, affectionate, stubborn, hilarious, and deeply loyal — sometimes all in the same five minutes. We get that.
Our own dogs are well-socialised, well-travelled, and very settled in different environments. Beyond that, we run Westie Rescue and Rehoming Tasmania Inc and the Westies Tasmania Facebook group, so we have extensive experience with Westies and other terrier breeds of all ages, personalities, and needs — from confident characters to anxious souls, seniors, and those needing a bit of extra patience and routine.
From April onward, we’re looking for house-sitting assignments over the next six months as we travel. We move slowly, stay put properly, and focus on keeping routines consistent — something terriers thrive on.
We’ve completed house sits across Tasmania and can provide genuine references and character referees. We both hold current police checks.
Outside of house sitting, Jane is a wedding and funeral celebrant, bringing calm, care, and respect into every space. Neil is a qualified sheet-metal worker and quality welder, handy for small fixes or odd jobs if ever needed.
We treat your home as if it’s our own and your terriers as if they’re part of the family — because to us, they are.
If you’re heading away and want people who truly understand Westies (and won’t be surprised by big personalities in small bodies), we’d love to chat.
